For stunning views of the city in a swanky setting, Empress of China offers one of the best dining experiences in the region, in the heart of Chinatown. If you want a classic steak house – and swanky bar – don’t miss Osso Steakhouse on Nob Hill. The districts have high-end hotels as well that are perfect for a night out or a glamorous staycation, with Fairmont San Francisco being particularly popular.
For shopping, residents of North Beach, Russian Hill, and Nob Hill have a wonderful selection of stores from which to choose. Don’t miss the boutiques along Grant Avenue in North Beach and the offerings along Polk Street on Russian Hill. There are plenty of supermarkets for groceries and specialty stores for gourmet items. In particular, there are copious Italian specialty food shops in North Beach along Columbus and Chinese delicacies in Chinatown along Stockton and Grant Avenue.
